Simple Sentences 
(Independent Clauses)
  





Compound Sentences
(Two independent clauses joined by a comma and a conjunction).







You CAN join two independent clauses to form a compound sentence using a semicolon.  
You CAN NOT use a semicolon with a conjunction.  You must chose one or the other.

REMEMBER . . .
Do not confuse compound sentences with a simple sentence that has a compound subject or predicate.
We learned about compound subjects and predicates in the last GNB section.  Read the information below and watch the video for a quick review.
Compound Subjects and Compound Predicates are different from a Compound Sentence.
